Bulky goods shipping costs: what the price is made of
What a bulky goods transport costs comes down to three things: the dimensions of the package, its weight and the distance between pickup and delivery. Everything else follows from those.
On top of that comes the service level. There are two:
Standard shipping
The cheaper option. It fits wherever a working day more or less does not matter.
Premium shipping
For urgent shipments. Your goods are dispatched with priority and reach the destination sooner.
The price calculator combines all of these factors and suggests the right transport type. As a rule of thumb: up to six euro pallets the shipment runs as general cargo, above that as a part load, and once the loading space fills up, as a full load.

When a consignment counts as oversized freight
Oversized freight is a question of handling rather than weight. A consignment generally counts as oversized from an edge length above 250 cm, a height above 220 cm, or when its shape makes it impossible to stack. A light but awkwardly shaped item is oversized too: it blocks loading area no other customer can use and has to be loaded by hand or with special equipment.
In practice this means oversized freight does not run over the automated conveyor line in the hub but is handled individually. That increases the effort and makes a stable loading unit particularly important. Consignments fixed on a pallet and fitted with edge protection survive handling far more reliably than loose individual parts. State the actual outer dimensions when packed at booking — not the dimensions of the goods themselves.
