What are long packages?
Long packages are goods that exceed a length of 200 cm and therefore do not fit on a standard pallet. Typical examples are metal pipes, steel rods, aluminium profiles, wooden strips, plastic pipes, ladders, curtain rods or guttering. Transporting long goods requires special vehicles — lorries with extendable loading areas or open vehicles — as well as experienced drivers and special cargo securing.

Specifics of long package transport
Vehicles: Depending on length (up to 6 m, up to 13 m or oversize) different vehicle types are used. Long goods trains, telescopic systems or special vehicles are available.
Cargo securing: Pipes and rods must be secured against slipping with lashing straps, chocks and padding material. Our partners comply with VDI cargo securing guidelines.
Packaging: For sensitive long goods we recommend edge protection and wrapping film. Loose pipes should be bundled together.
Weight: The total weight of the long package significantly influences the price. Steel pipes for example are considerably heavier than plastic pipes of the same length.
