Shipping to Denmark: customs, route, transit time
Customs and documents
Denmark is an EU member, so no customs declaration is required. You need a commercial invoice, delivery note and CMR plus the recipient's Danish VAT number for the zero-rated supply. This does not apply to Greenland and the Faroe Islands: both lie outside the EU customs territory and require full customs clearance.
Route and transit time
Jutland is reachable from northern Germany in one to two business days, Copenhagen in two to three. The route runs via the Great Belt Bridge or the Puttgarden–Rødby ferry. For consignments to Zealand and Bornholm, ferry capacity is the limiting factor in peak season — booking early noticeably shortens transit time.
Typical consignments and coverage
Typical goods are machinery, wind power components, food processing equipment and retail products. Denmark is a major location for the wind energy industry, so long goods and heavy freight consignments are frequent. Jutland and Funen are reached fastest, Zealand and the greater Copenhagen area a day later. For the islands and Bornholm, the ferry connection is the limiting factor. Denmark is also the natural staging point for onward traffic to Sweden and Norway. The Øresund crossing to Malmö is short, so consignments with a Scandinavian final destination are often routed through Jutland. Norway is outside the EU customs union, so those movements need export and import declarations — state the final destination at booking.
