What matters when arranging solar module shipping

Solar modules are mechanically tougher than they look — as long as the load is introduced correctly. The glass handles distributed load without difficulty but tolerates no point loading. That is why modules travel standing on special pallets, glass face to glass face, with foam spacers between them. Stacked flat, a single grain of grit between two modules is enough to cause a microcrack.

Microcracks are the real risk: invisible to the naked eye, they permanently reduce yield and only show up under electroluminescence testing. Use the manufacturer's original packaging or equivalent special packaging. Depending on module size, 20 to 40 modules fit standing on a euro pallet; at 1.65 × 1 metre, around 24 is typical.

Give the number of modules, pallet dimensions and total weight at booking. A full module pallet weighs 400 to 700 kg depending on type and needs a forklift at both ends. For installers with a fixed assembly date, a scheduled delivery makes sense: an installation crew waiting for modules costs more than the scheduling surcharge. Do not repack partial quantities — the original packaging is part of the transport protection.
