What matters when arranging long goods shipping
Long goods are not priced by weight but by the loading area they claim. A 6-metre bundle of pipes blocks half a trailer even at only 60 kg. A consignment counts as long goods from 250 cm, and from around 6 metres a vehicle with a continuous loading floor becomes necessary — which limits the available runs and should be booked early.
The most common cause of damage is sagging. Long profiles, pipes and strips must rest on at least three support points across their full length, ideally on a continuous wooden base. Props at the ends alone leave the material permanently deformed in the middle. Bundle several pieces into one unit — loose individual items get lost during handling.

It determines the vehicle type: up to 250 cm a standard vehicle suffices, up to 6 metres a trailer with a continuous loading floor, and beyond that it becomes a special case with limited runs.
