What matters when arranging rim shipping
With rims, damage almost never happens in the vehicle — it happens during stacking. Alloy rims rest spoke on spoke and press marks into each other, which on polished or diamond-cut rims is irreparable. A layer of foam or cardboard belongs between each rim, resting on the rim shoulder rather than on the spokes.
The rim edge is the most vulnerable point. An edge protection strip around the flange protects more reliably than any padding of the face. Depending on diameter, four to twelve rims fit on a pallet — 17-inch rims typically four to six per stack. Alloy rims are far lighter than steel, so the pallet weight limit is rarely reached while the volume limit is reached quickly.
Give the quantity, diameter and total pallet weight at booking. Four to six 17-inch rims form one stack; beyond that a second layer becomes necessary, which determines pallet height. For rim dealers and workshops shipping repeatedly, a framework agreement makes sense — the consignment profile stays constant, so prices can be fixed rather than requoted per order.
