State the overall length when booking: it determines the vehicle type and loading method, not the kilogram figure.
The greatest risk sits at the joints. Flanges, lambda sensors and catalytic converters are thin-walled and bend under point loads. Rest the system on continuous wooden supports rather than individual props, seal the pipe ends with film and pad attachments separately. Remove soot residue beforehand — it soils neighbouring consignments in groupage transport.
Two details matter at booking: overall length, and whether the system travels dismantled or complete. Up to 250 cm the consignment runs as ordinary groupage freight; beyond that as long goods with a narrower choice of vehicles. Individual rear silencers can go as a parcel, complete systems practically never. For trade consignments with several systems a pallet beats individual cartons — freight costs drop noticeably because loading area is charged only once.
