When is transport insurance worthwhile?

Goods value over €500

Electronics, machinery and industrial goods quickly exceed the statutory liability limit — leaving the sender liable for the gap.

Fragile or sensitive goods

Glass, displays, measuring instruments or sensitive components — without insurance, the risk lies entirely with the sender.

International shipments

Cross-border transport is subject to different liability rules (CMR). Transport insurance closes these gaps reliably.

Frequently asked questions about transport insurance

How much does transport insurance cost at NexCargo?
The insurance premium is based on the declared goods value and is typically 0.3–0.8%. For a goods value of €5,000 this means an additional €15–40. The exact amount is shown in the price calculator.
Do I need to book insurance separately for every shipment?
No. You can set transport insurance as the default for all your shipments. Framework agreements for frequent senders are available on request.
What happens in the event of a claim?
Damage must be noted on the delivery note upon receipt and reported within 7 days. NexCargo handles the claims settlement directly — no complicated contact with the insurer required.
Does the insurance apply to international shipments?
Yes. Transport insurance applies to all NexCargo transports, national and international. CMR conditions apply within the EU — our insurance covers beyond those limits.
Are perishable goods or hazardous materials covered?
Foodstuffs and perishable goods are generally excluded. Hazardous goods (ADR) can be insured separately on request. For high-value goods exceeding €50,000 please contact our customer service.
