Frequently Asked Questions about Ship E-Bikes

Can e-bikes be shipped with the built-in battery?
E-bikes with lithium-ion batteries can be shipped by freight forwarder. Since the battery qualifies as hazardous goods (ADR), the charge level must be reduced to a maximum of 30%. We advise you on the exact regulations.
Do I need to remove the battery before shipping?
With many freight forwarders yes – we generally recommend reducing the battery to 30% charge level and packaging it separately in a padded box. This makes transport safer and more regulation-compliant.
How do I package my e-bike correctly?
Rotate handlebars 90°, remove pedals, fix crank arms. Wrap bicycle in bubble wrap and place in sturdy bicycle carton (min. 200 × 80 × 80 cm) or transport case. Package battery separately.
Can e-cargo bikes and cargo bikes also be shipped?
Yes, e-cargo bikes, longtails and bakfiets are transported with special solutions. Due to oversize (often over 250 cm long) please enquire in advance – individual quotes for e-cargo bikes.
Is my e-bike insured during transport?
Basic insurance up to €750 is included. For high-value e-bikes (often €2,000–€8,000 goods value) we strongly recommend extended transport insurance – bookable at checkout.
