Panel shipping: special requirements, specialised solutions
Panels made of glass, natural stone, artificial stone, metal or plastic are among the most demanding goods in the freight forwarding sector. They are often large-format, heavy, fragile and sensitive to impacts, scratches or moisture. Transport requires specialised vehicles (A-frames, panel racks), experienced drivers and careful handling.
NexCargo connects freight forwarders with experience in panel shipping. Whether individual panels for construction or large-format production batches from industry — we find the appropriate transport solution at competitive prices.
Which panels can be shipped?
Glass panels: Window, mirror, decorative and safety glass. Transported on A-frames or in special racks, equipped for padding.
Natural stone panels: Granite, marble, slate — often extremely heavy. Special transporters with reinforced base and specialist racks.
Ceramic and porcelain stoneware: Large-format tiles and ceramic panels. Sensitive to impacts and breakage, careful packing and securing required.
Metal panels: Steel, aluminium, copper and stainless steel panels. Often very heavy, lifting equipment at unloading point may be required.
Plastic panels: Acrylic, PVC, polycarbonate — lighter, but sensitive to scratches and deformation under heat.
Transport and packaging of panels
- Wrap individual panels in protective film
- Attach edge protection from plastic or cardboard
- Transport panels vertically on A-frame racks (prevents breakage from bending forces)
- No horizontal stacking on top of each other without adequate padding
- Clear labelling "Fragile" and "This side up"
