NexCargo transports hazardous goods of all ADR classes for chemical companies, laboratories, pharmaceutical plants and industrial companies – with certified drivers and complete documentation.

Frequently Asked Questions about Hazardous Goods Transport

We ship lithium-ion batteries — which ADR class is that and what do we need to consider?
Lithium-ion batteries fall under ADR Class 9 (Miscellaneous Dangerous Substances). Individual cells are declared as UN3480, batteries installed in devices as UN3481. Decisive is the state of charge: >30% capacity requires special packaging (Section II or IA), UN marking on the package and a hazard label. NexCargo handles compliance verification before pickup.
As a sender of hazardous goods, do I need to prove training?
Yes — under § 17 GGVSEB the sender is obligated to train employees who classify, package or document hazardous goods. Training by a hazardous goods officer is mandatory for regular senders. NexCargo can refer you to recognized training partners on request and reviews your documents before the first transport.
We regularly ship isopropanol (Class 3) — do we need a hazardous goods officer?
Above a certain annual volume of hazardous goods transports (generally more than 50 shipments/year or exceeding exemption quantities) a designated hazardous goods officer is legally required. Isopropanol falls under Class 3 as UN1219, packing group II. NexCargo advises you when an appointment obligation arises for your shipment volume.
Can hazardous goods of different ADR classes be mixed in one transport?
Not always. The ADR defines so-called co-loading prohibitions: certain classes may not be transported together — e.g. Class 1 (explosives) not with Class 3 (flammable liquids). NexCargo checks the compatibility of all packages before every transport and plans the loading according to ADR table 7.5.2.
What does a hazardous goods transport cost compared to a regular courier transport?
Hazardous goods transports typically cost 20–50% more than a comparable standard transport depending on class, quantity and documentation effort. The surcharge covers ADR training costs, special equipment, increased administrative effort and the higher liability risk. For regular hazardous goods shippers NexCargo offers framework contracts with better rates.
